Questions & answers
Does it need a topcoat?
Yes. The stain gives the color; a topcoat protects it.
How do I apply it?
Brush it on or wipe it on with a clean rag, then wipe off the excess. It is not for spraying.
How long between coats?
Dry to the touch in 8+ hours and ready to recoat after 24+ hours.
Can I use it on maple?
General Finishes advises against it: liquid oil stains tend to blotch on maple. Use Gel Stain or Water-Based Wood Stain instead.
Can I use it outdoors under an exterior topcoat?
Not recommended. Interior stains do not contain the UV absorbers, mildew retardants and light stabilizers that exterior products have.
Can I mix it with Gel Stain or Gel Topcoat?
Yes. Mix up to 20% into Gel Satin Topcoat to tint it, or add it to Gel Stain to thin it (start at 10%).
