Satin Finishing Wax is a special blend of waxes designed to give oil-finished woods a rich luster. It can be used as a polish for rubbing out new finishes or as a scratch-remover for worn surfaces. It works well over both oil- and water-based finishes, including Danish Oil. We recommend a wet-sanding process followed by buffing to a soft silky sheen.

Questions & answers
Should I use wax on kitchen cabinets?
General Finishes advises against it. Wax gives far less protection than a topcoat, shows fingerprints, and can soften and run from the heat near range hoods and dishwashers. Use a topcoat such as High Performance instead.
Wax or topcoat: which protects better?
A topcoat. Wax is fine on decorative pieces that see light use, but it needs upkeep once or twice a year and is not strong enough for tables or other high-use surfaces.
Can I put a topcoat or paint over wax later?
Very risky. Almost nothing sticks well to wax, and getting it all off is hard and sometimes impossible.
Can I tint it?
Yes. Mix in General Finishes oil-based Gel Stain or liquid oil stain to make a dark wax.
Can it go over Gel Stain or Glaze Effects?
Yes. Let Gel Stain dry 24-48 hours first. Keep in mind wax wears faster than a topcoat.
