The Tramex CME5 Concrete Moisture Encounter is a non-destructive analog moisture meter for concrete slabs and screeds, built for flooring contractors and inspectors who need a quantitative moisture reading before installing flooring or diagnosing a moisture complaint. Spring-loaded electrodes on the base send a low-frequency signal into the slab, and the meter converts the signal strength to a moisture value on a large analog dial, with no drilling or coring required.
The concrete scale reads 0-6% moisture content, with a 0-10 comparative scale for gypsum floor screeds, to a depth of penetration of about 3/4 inch (20mm). A hold function freezes the reading when the dial faces away from you, useful for recording data in awkward spots. The meter runs on 2 AA alkaline batteries, weighs 12.1 oz, and measures 6.3 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches in an ABS housing. Testing follows ASTM F2659 for non-destructive concrete moisture evaluation.
